Finally, after 6 years of being without a Defender (Have a Disco atm, but giving that to the O.H) I've done the deal on a 2000 TD5 commercial. 105k miles in extremely good condition with an impeccable service record from new for 4.5k

It's a far cry from my last 110, which was an ex MOD N/A diesel :D

Was originally looking for a double cab, but couldn;t find one for the right price, then recently good TD5s have been hard to find so thought I'd just end up with a TDi until this gem came up.

The sellers REALLY under sold it with a brief description on Autotrader. Only thing I found wrong with it was a dink in the rear quarter which I'll attend to soon.

Pleased to say the least. Now wait for that enthusiasm to dwindle as I curse those damn electronics!!!

Likewise, pictures needed ! Congratulations - I struggled finding a decent TD5 as well and have a very similar beast to yours....

Rear windows, benches etc and mine is already starting to look like the Defender vision :)

Will get some photos up later, but loving it so far. Not so overjoyed about the jerky throttle response in first and second, making me kangaroo about on uneven ground as I get used to it, but I'll live with that until a remap can sort it out.

Kids keep calling it a truck, so it's sort of caught on :)

And the rear quarter damage...

And this is what it's replacing, and will soon end up doing :)

No, I've already got a hefty amount of stuff on order

It's just been serviced by a reputable garage, and it's all in tip top shape bar the A frame B/J and the rear flexis look a bit tired, so they will be changed.

Tyres and wheels, I've ordered 265/75/16 Insa Turbo Dakar tyres on black modular wheels.

From First Four I've ordered a Shadow winch bumper with A bar and recovery points, Safari Snorkel, Steering guard, front diff guard, and rear salisbury guard. Also got a centre silencer S/S replacement pipe. Winch will be sorted next month hopefully.

Inside I've got a Raptor engineering console on order, and an Intek M-799 CB radio and mount & aerial etc. Also ordered oil pressure, boost, and exhaust gas temperature dials and associated sensors/wiring.

Security wise, I already have a good Disklok, ordered a clutch claw, and a couple of other home devices I won't go into detail about.

Just got to decide whether I want the EGT probe tapped into the exhaust before or after the turbocharger. Will probably end up going for an IRB remap with a tubular manifold in the future anway.

Not really butchering tbh though, it can be returned more or less back to original spec with a few hours work.

Although, in fairness I've bought it to do a job, and a 110 van, even in good nick isn't really a cherished item.
