Hi,

I've worked lots on SIII landrovers in the past, swapping engines etc so have a fair bit of knowledge as to procedure etc but having now taken delivery of a baby need something more comfortable and warmer, hence a post on the range Rover forum. Most Rangies I see in my price bracket (£1200 - £1500 for a G plate) are 3.9L Petrol and I really want a diesel, not happy with a gas conversion either. How easy is it to convet, I guess the auto box would have to go but are the engine mountings the same for a 200Tdi engine and 5 speed R380 (?) box as the 3.9V8 with auto trans?

Hope someone can help?

Thanks.

Hi

It is fairly simple to convert to Diesel from Petrol. Engine mounts may need replacing/ moving either back or forward. I believe the 200TDi may fit directly to the Engine. Tank, pump, loom will need replacing also most if not all of the ancilleries will need replacing

In short

Mounts
Steering
Ancillaries
Tank
Loom
ECU & relays
pump
tank breathing system
gearbox/Torque converter
Toe bearing

All may/are different and may need replacing/moving.

Hope this is some help

Charlotte
