Petrol Diesel Tesco problem

Anyone had problems with there Cars with the contaminated
fuel I filled up my Defender with Diesel last week at Tesco
Peterborough and also filled my Citroen C4 with Petrol on
the 26 Feb but only drove it back and put it in the garage
I will check with my Citroen dealer to see what's going on

And Peterborough was one of them on the News to-night

I wouldn't expect any issue from the diesel engine, if it burns and is of a similar viscosity it should be fine.

It seems to be the petrols that are suffering.

bbc reports said it may be ethalene contamination.
i rather suspect summat more simple, such as water or diesel in the petrol.

I checked with my Citroen dealer to-day
they said they have had a some cars in
with the problem they say run the petrol
out you have in the tank and then fill up
with £10 of super unleaded run that out
and go back to your unleaded

Reckon Tesco thought they'd dilute the petrol to make it go farther............weeeell, 'every little helps'

i know its not the same problem but i got a lot of water when i was filling uo with diesel at tesco i had meg white smoke for 60 miles

Back to the old supermarket fuel issue. Supermarket fuel is not as good as Shell, BP etc... its worth the extra 2/3pence buying it from the big boys, there is a difference, BP are not going to give ASDA or Safeway the same stuff they sell... you will also get about 50 more miles to the tank which in mine is £10 worth of fuel, you do the maths.

I was once a supermarket fuel buyer because psychologically it sounds cheaper but it’s not really.

Bloody hell another dead topic revived. Oh well here goes. Sorry but your wrong all the trucks fill up from the same tanks whether it's going to a bp, or asda or tesco's. the only thing that changes is the state of the underground storage tanks at each garage.

I know the ground operations manager at Grangemouth where all of Scotland and the North of England's fuel comes from - there are different tanks for different fuels, however there are also different tanks for different customers.

Think of BP's standard diesel then their ultimate diesel - in relation to a supermarket diesel their "Ultimate" is the equivalent to BP's standard, so the supermarket "standard" is NOT as good as BP's standard - same goes for Petrol.

Now perhaps some refinaries do it differently as they are owned by different oil companies.

Redhand, thats not completely correct, Its true that most of the supermarket fuel comes from the same depots as the major stuff however although the base fuel is the same the thing that differentiates most of the premium fuels is the additives added to the tanker when picking up from the depot. These additives are brand specific.

For Shell V-Power there are no supermarket equivalents, its refined (in Stanlow) and is not a normal base fuel plus an additive.

I always use good quality fuel (normally Shell and sometimes BP) its not much more expensive and personally I think its worth every penny.

Well I use any diesel I can find and Asda/tesco's homebrand vegoil. and I've never had any fuel related problems.
