Taken off an email I just received from the PDNPA (Peak District National Parks Authority) Communications Officer.

"Chapel Gate - Traffic Regulation Order Consultation

A public consultation is underway on a proposal to make a traffic regulation order to permanently prohibit motor vehicles from the Chapel Gate route. It runs until 28 June 2013.

Documents which give details and reasons for the proposals can be viewed at www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/consultations or at our offices in Bakewell. Details of how to comment can also be found there.
Strategy and Action Plans

Action plans on green lanes, illegal use and communications for 2013/14 to continue the work to protect the special qualities of the National Park have recently been approved by Members of the Authority. The documents and the Authority’s Strategy can be viewed at www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/vehicles."

I haven't looked at the details yet .... but we all knew this was coming ..

LOL, didn't see that, obviously! and just got the email through so thought I'd share!

I always write in .. for any TRO I find, wherever they are!

Sad times :( just feel privilaged enough to have driven that and stanage as I cant see these ever being open to us again, shame as future green laners are going to miss out

Agree with the sad times .. but I hope that when 4x4's _are_ stopped from driving the routes, they still get eroded and the powers that be re-think the strategy of pandering to ####wits who simply prefer not to share the routes or even to look at vehicles on roads ... and blame 4x4's 'cos we're an easy target. ;)

+1

I got to drive them both luckily, up stanage too, in the dark ;)

Even if stanage does reopen it will never be the same :(

so sending all the stuff regarding the tro won't work ie the petitions etc?
I received an email from them the other day confirming that my email was my objection not sure why they sent that, but replied to say yes it was

Sending petitions and stuff does work, but only in as much as it shows a weight or depth of feeling against proposals. It shows that people care enough about liberties and rights being taken away that they're at least prepared to write in about or against proposed legislation. I also send a 'proper' written letter in for any objections I have .. they're far less easy to hide .. ;)

For example if only 120 walkers send in an agreement email but 530 4x4 users send in an objection then that must have some bearing on matters, even if only small.

The problem with that argument is that we're also, in this case, working against a council who have so-called 'scientific evidence' to support endangered species both flora and fauna. Mostly it's bull****, but it's there and respected 'cos it's what they actually want to hear. What we really need is people who can refute their scientific arguments and/or show that other habitats exist and are better than those they say are being destroyed. This does happen, but we don't hear much of it ..
