Hi all ,
recently bought a RR classic , that needs some welding for mot , needs the boot floor and drivers and passenger foot wells ,

the thing I'm unsure of is, Ive cut the rusted metal out and putting a new patch on top overlapping and the seem welding it on all edges from the top,
Will this be OK for the mot? , or will it need welding underneath as well (both sides) as I'm putting the patch on top inside the car , and then was going to under seal it all ?

any help much appreciated , cheers

To be honest you have probably done a better job than if you had left it for them to do, as long as the area is structurally sound it should be ok

should be OK then , its just was thinking looking at it from underneath you don't see no welding, just seem sealer and under seal , but its seem welded on the top so as strong if not stronger than the standard floor , cheers

Personally i weld from underneath as there is less chance of water getting in and getting trapped and rotting again.

Yeah, I can see your point, but some places are awkward to get at from the underside, surely seam sealer and plenty of underseal would suffice?

Only for a while as water will seep in if it can. The factory sealer dosnt last that long really. It all depends how long you plan to keep it.
