Other Passports just a word of warning.

Morning everyone, went for some Euros yesterday and luckily used my passport as ID. My passport expires in October 22 but was issued in February 12 and as a consequence of leaving the EU you now need 3months validity FROM the DATE of ISSUE.so my trippet is delayed for a week or so.At least I didn't find out at the airport tomorrow.

Do you have any reference? I was quite sure it was 3 months after your planned return date

But my passport would become invalid while I was away.

See my location it was just a couple of weeks, may extend the trip depending on what the specialist says today.

Both mine expire between 5 and 8 years

No it's 10 years from the issue date and as mine was issued in February 12 the EU won't accept the extra time.i never spotted it,the girl at the travel agents did

I've just rechecked Kermie,it must be less than 10 years old on the date of entry see date of issue and have three months left on the date of departure to return home,see valid till date. Mine was 10years old on the 21/2 /12 so I would have been ok if I went last week.

So a.10 year passport isnt really quite 10 years then.

Yes it is , but when I renewed mine I still had time left on the old one so that's why the issue was February and the expiration date October like the extra month you can get on the MOT. I believe a number of people are falling foul of this confusion and are being turned away at the airport.

According to my information, the EU require 6 months to expiry and then if you renew before the expiry date, any extra months beyond 10 years do not count. Politicians just love making things stupidly difficult.

Thought it had changed, they always were 10yrs, as the expiration date stayed the same and think you could apply 9 months early, now if you apply early the expiration is 10yrs from when you apply, so it is never 10yrs, good increased income generator

We my two are 2029 & 2030 expiry, so not gonna worry for a while.

That was due to an EU ruling, nothing to do with the UK tax grabbers.

Ker rect but even that isn't uniform.Spain requires 10years from date of issue on the day of entry and 3 months to expiring on the day of return travel.Some cnut from JLR design team obviously got a new job drafting the new legislation.
