Yes, I have searched the forum....
Basically the passenger door lock wont pop up with the fob...sometimes...
Threads have been started but not results posted...
You can operate it manually and it will lock and unlock. (not sure if it will unlock/lock other doors- Private locking)
Question is which parts do I fix or replace? is the handles? microswitch? latch? Most of the previous threads have changed a combination.
I just had a quick look at RAVE and there seems to be a lot of stuff in the door once you have got the door panel off!
other thing is will my drivers door also die in the near future? I just dont fancy doing this door in December.

Could be the latch motor is on it's last legs or maybe the micro switch inside is dodgy (Not available as separate part). The microswitch indicates that the door is either locked or unlocked.
The latches on the P38 are prone to failure after a while and the worst case scenario is that they can fail in Superlock mode in which case the only option is to wreck the lock casing to get the door open in order to remove & replace the latch.
Regarding possible future failure of the drivers door lock...my crystal ball needs a clean and I am unable to tell you. If the motor fails in the drivers door latch, you will still be able to lock/unlock manually with the key. No such luck with the passenger door !!
New genuine latches are available from Island 4x4 at £129.99 each..takes them 24 hours to get them in. Had the same problem on a 1999 P38 a few weeks ago.

So basically I have to order the new latch...ah feck.
I also have arthritic door handles, can these be fixed or lubed? I did read that you can buy some small plastic part that can fix the stiffness and sticky out problem, anyone tried this?

I only mentioned the drivers lock because i have read that they do kinda fail in pairs....or not far apart from each other..

Or you can take a chance and buy second hand..trouble is, you don't know the history or how long that's going to last.
You know the story with P38's..working fine today, in the ****e tomorrow !!!!
