passanger door lock mec

hi all

any ideas???

the lock on my passengers door has stopped working , it used to un lock with the remote now it will not (all other doors do)

you can still unlock it from inside via handle but not by the button on the centre console

ive taken the door car off ,when holding my hand on the mec inside the door and trying to unlock with the remote i can feel the mec pulse but thats all it does ,will not move the catch ,when i got the car it was working fine

is it just a case of taking it out and servicing it,ie regreasing inside etc ???? or is it a sealed unit ???

is this a common fault ????

It is almost certainly a duff solenoid in the door lock unit. Change whole unit is only fix. Available on Ebay for around £20. Tricky to fit, but can be done in about an hour. Undo star bolts, disconnect the remote linkages (easier if you take off door handle) and then replace unit by unplugging multi-plug.

i think if thats the case

when i take the unit out im going to take it apart and see what has blown ,if it cant be fixed i may as well take it a part just out of interest
