Hi, just been giving my P38 diesel a service. New filters etc. And I came across this part that was disconnected. It was covered in oil and looked like exhaust sludge.

Anyway, I've connected it back up properly and it still all runs ok. Any ideas? Would it have been disconnected for a reason or just forgotten to be put back after a previous owners fiddle?

tnx

Crank case vent. Make sure it is connected. Crankcase gas is drawn into air intake through it.

Well it wasn't and I've only had the car 3 weeks so I've no idea how long its been disconnected. Will any damage have been caused? (he asks with fingers crossed)

tnx

Nik
