Parking sensors

Hi , I have a freelander 2 and have a problem with the parking sensors . I have an auto gearbox. When I am reversing the sensors dont work however if I turn the engine off while in reverse gear and then turn just the ignition on the sensors are now working , any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks

Does your reversing lights work ? PDC should use the same switch.... also check the fuses in the rear box?

Thanks for your reply Arctic2 , yes the lights come on and the fuse is fine

Try and feel if all the sensors are clicking when called for, it sounds like one is not working, therefore making them work intermittent, you really need to get it hooked up to a reader, which should show up as a fault, we all know electric problems are hard to track down, as the switch on the dash been turned off ? start the car put it in reverse and press the switch on the dash.
