I recently purchased a beautiful, low mileage 2011 5L s/c Autobiography which came with the Park Heating - Park Heating With Remote Control [043AV] option. However, when I operate the remote near the car, while the LED on the remote flashes red for a second or so, as far as I can tell nothing happens inside the car. According to the owners manual, if the remote "Flashes green or red for two seconds when the on or off buttons are pressed, to indicate that the signal was not received". The battery in the remote seems OK when I checked it with a multimeter.

To be honest, I am not even sure what should happen if the system was working properly as the owners handbook provides no information - is it the cabin heating and/or windscreen heater that should be turned on or what? I had a look at the Settings in the car touch screen but the only option which I thought could be relevant related to setting times for the heating to go on and off automatically and there was nothing there to do with operating the system manually with the remote.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong and how to fix it would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Thanks. Do you know how to enable the remote on the touch screen? I haven't been able to find anywhere to do this?

I am afraid mine is 14 years older than yours and way behind on all the gadgets, just going on what i have read on here, others will know more than me

IMO if you have the option on the screen it may already be enabled. Not sure on the 2011 but according to the manual for the 2007 - 2010 it sits below the battery (same as my 2005) and should fire up if the temp is below 16 °C. If it is working you should hear what sounds like a small jet engine fire up inside the front passenger wheel arch which will increase in volume in the first 3 minutes as it fire up.
Chances are at 10 years old it's broke and needs a service, you could check the fuse (fuse 59 on my 2005 not sure on 2011). If you have a diagnostic tool you could check it for errors.
