Driving home to London from Wilshire ABS and CT lights came on the went off after a minute or so. Few miles later they came on then Traction Failure came no followed by Gearbox Failure. Didn't feel different so thought usual RR electrical glitch. Few miles on the tach and speedo both dropped to zero! Everything still felt fine.
Pulled over ,didn't stop engine, ABS & TC lights went out and speedo and tach stared up again. Went to take off and had to rev engine much more than usual to get moving felt like the gearbox was slipping? Once moving all felt as normal.Drove home 90 miles no more fault lights up. Hit London traffic and gearbox is still doing the slipping thing. Got home turned off engine and Traction Failure and Gearbox Failure light came on????
Pressing the Sport Mode no light comes up by the way
Any thoughts on this one chaps?

Has the fault gone away when restarting?? 99.9% of the time the GEARBOX FAULT/TRACTION FAILURE are battery related. When was the last time you changed your battery?? If recently are the terminals both secure and smeared well with petroleum jelly??

The revving the engine much more to get going is because the gearbox is in fault mode, same reason for the sport button too. It had locked itself in 3rd gear basically. Once the GEARBOX FAULT has come up it then dissapears until the end of the drive cycle so when you turned off that's why the message showed back up, same with the TRACTION FAILURE message.

My money is most definitely on the battery, especially as I seem to remember you have had battery drain problems in the past?? A normal car battery isnt designed to be completely drained and if this has happened more than a few times then your battery is probably knackered.

If you go back outside now and start her up do the fault messages show??

Many thanks for response..which I only got this morning upon arrival in office. Went to bed with a bottle and depression pills so missed your advise.
New battery three months ago but has been drained fully twice and fitted new alternator within last month. Suspect I didnt need alternator as the problem was the usual RR picking up signals etc. Have just got the later RF receiver and was going to fit next weekend.

Not sure she was in third gear as i was doing 75 most of the time and think i would have noticed the higher revs.

So havnt restarted to see if lights come on, will do so this evening.
We will see what happens later

I had the same problem with my (DHSE) turned out to be the earth from the battery to the body. I've put in a secondary earth from the battery to the body not had the faults back since give it a try see if it works

If there was a problem with the old alternator this will also kill a good battery pretty quickly as well, this happened when my alternator gave up the ghost, by the time I realised and got it changed it was too late, within a week I had the good ol' GEARBOX FAULT coming up, new battery in and all was sorted again.

Its also worth listening to what Alan said, check your battery cables, if they are not properly secured and tightened then you may be getting a poor earth which would cause the same problems.
