Painting Her White

Hello,

I am deciding whether or not to paint my yellow 90 white. The roof is black, which would be staying black, but I think that the body would look better in white. It was originally blue, painted yellow around 10 years ago, and has started to flake off in areas. Over Summer my plan was to sand down the rough areas and touch her up with a bit of yellow, but I can't help wanting to paint her all white, it wouldn't take that much longer and I would have the time to do a good job of it.

'Ere's a couple of questions:

1) How much are a local specialist likely to charge to spray the body
(excluding the roof) without dismantling it?
2) What kind of paint should I buy if I do it myself?
3) Where can I get the right kind of paint (other than paddocks / craddock)?
4) Should I spray it or paint it by brush?

you might not get away with yellow under white.

get your paint from an army surplus supplier, ebay is a good source. and roller brush it. 2 coates should do yer. search on here for painting tips as its come up all too often.

aww nearly forgot, your looking at anything from £500+ for someone else to do it.

can of paint will cost yer around £40-£50 and rollers are cheap. spend a weekend doing it.

I've seen a couple now that were roller painetd in a garage and have to say I was mighty impressed by the results.

I kind of like the yellow, but can't help thinking white would look nicer!
I will have a good think, and then maybe buy in some paint and a couple of good rollers

thats a **** yellow. have you thought about G4 orange. get them windows blacked out too

Thanks Griff, I bought it cos I like the yellow! I am planning on changing it though, just because it is a bit... "wtf!?" I like the G4 orange colour, and blacking out the windows is something I want to do too. Is G4 orange not a bit over the top too?

If I went for g4 orange, where could I get that from? I'd need to buy a bloody roof rack with the fancy spot lights to make it look good then too

Reckin the yellow is quite funky, but since yer keeping the black roof, yeah I reckin G4 orange would be better.

White? Fkn WHITE? That's "WTF?"

white's good cos it gets muckier quicker The roof could change colour, that's probs the easiest bit to do

if you sratch the white the dirt will grind into the marks, making it look **** in no time. you will also look like a utilities landy... boring! yawn.

go with G4orange, blacked windows and keep the black roof. i think burnt orange landy's look the bomb.

Roller brushed mine with Dulux gloss, went on a treat....(Now Blue by the way) Quick, cheap, and i really dont give a s**t if it gets scatched etc..

Looks a lot better than the white masonry (Rough not the smooth one) paint that it was done in by the guy I bought it off....

Yeah then all you'd need would be some nice 22" alloys (make sure they're three spokes) wiv rubber band around 'em, an Alpine stereo with at least three amplifiers, 4 big fat bass toobs (don't bovver wiv tweeters, they're fer poofs), some spinners for the wheels, a chrome twintip exhaust extension from Halfords, a dodgy leather effect vinyl jacket and an Essex burd for the passenger seat and you can really complete that "I'm an orf road drug dealer" look!

a 90 could never look like a dealers car... unless you deal in sheep. maybe thats why yella had a yellow disco, hmmm.
