Hey,

I did post on here a while ago about my rebuild, well i've finished stripping down and have started to spray up the new (Richards) chassis.

I washed her down, thick coat of acid etch primer and then a heavy(ish) coat of grey primer, am I now ready for a colour coats or do I need another coat of primer?

Many Thanks,

Matt

Acid etch - 1 to 2 coats, Std Primer - 1 to 2 coats

Decided (well..hope) in the end that the layers on the chassis already were enough, so have started with colour.

Cheers for the reply

Matt

I'd have been tepted to give it either two or even three coats of primer, followed by a couple more coats of colour than suggested. Its the perfect time to do it, when in its bare form and you might as well protect it as best you can whilst its easy.
A few extra coats will cost a few days now and a few quid, but will protect it for even longer!

My two penneth anyway. Would love to rebuild a defender from chassis up! I'd end up spending a fortune though, replacing everything with shiny stuff like Mark on 4X4 is born!!
