I'd use an etch primer, followed by synthetic paint or two-pack (if you can get it).

There was an article in one of the mags on this very subject. I've chucked it, of course, but it did mention a paint 'plasticiser' that you can add for painting bendy bits. Might as well use it all over a Landy!
