I've been trying to combat the aluminium corrosion on the landy panels. All has gone well apart from the final finish/top coat. After laqouring the paint work it has dried with a rough texture (similar to very very fine sand paper) to the touch.
Prior to this, and before priming, everything was perfectly smooth:rolleyes:
Does anyone have an idea as to what's gone tits up?
 
I dont have any real knowledge of paintwork, but I remember when I was at school we rebuilt an MGBGT including a respray.

I remember getting a bol!ocking off the teacher for holding the spray gun too far away from the panel, and when it dried it was quite rough, had to be sanded back and resprayed (by someone else).
 
did you use a tack rag to get all the dust off? if not you might have got some fine dust from the sanding on it and this will couse the effect you are talking about.

No it's not fookin delux!!! It's that red floor paint for garages and land rover associated components:D

Seriously though, the paint is canned, seal grey (I can't remember what type off the top of me head but it does require laqour) I'm doing it outside walm temp little to no wind at all. Oh and no tac rag but was well blew then wiped free of dust. Somone has also said to me today that I may have been too close with the can...:rolleyes:

Yehr but I know it's a defender I Just want to get it as good ad I can! I washed it the other day then splashed out on some Auto Glym paint renovator (due to a few scratches and the fact my mates thought it would be a good idea to write tw*t and cu*t on each side of the landy bastids! When washed it was still highly visible) and some polish, oh it (or should I say she:eek:) looked great! Shiney as a mirror, hence why i'm now on a spree of painting blemishes!:D

Fair point, maby it's not as warm enough to paint outside, I'm going to ask my mate if I can make use of his garage/shed thing when I paint the other bits.

I have read that you can't polish for a week but in desperation I did a bit where I feathered out the paint but stopped soon after realising I might aswel rub my arse over it for the good it did!
 
pea of farcella g3 and T cut, keep it wet. move over area or you will go through
