A malfunction has occurred with the driver's memory seat in my Range Rover HSE 4.6 (P38A). Specifically, the button for electronically adjusting the seat's height and height of the head restraint has stopped working (seemingly spontaneously). The motor under the seat that I believe to control these functions also gets very hot and makes a regular clicking sound every 2 minutes or so (as if the seat was trying to resume its memory setting but was unable to do so because of a malfunction or jam with that particular movement).

I have now had that and all the other seat controls beneath the seat disabled by disconnecting the motor connections (these other controls adjust seat tilt, backward and forward movement and luber support inflation) which has stopped that motor heating up, as well as stopping the clicking sound.

No malfunction or error messages are being displayed, so I am wondering whether this may be due to something blocking the track or something unrelated to the components themselves?

Any suggestions as to what may have gone wrong, and possible solutions for this would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Hello mate, I've just bought my P38 and although the seats move electrically the heated part doesn't work. I've been told by a friend to accept minor problems with a smile and just appreciate the car for what it is. Sorry I can't offer any really useful advice.
Regards
Andy

Could be that a drive cable has broken.
If your interested, I have a spare memory seat base, ECU & switches from a 4.6 HSE which work perfectly and am coming over to the u.k. on 18th Dec. PM me if you are interested

Many thanks for the offer, but miraculously, after leaving the cables disconnected for a day or so and then reconnecting - the malfunction has gone.

Thanks.

No problem.
Should it happen again, check that none of the pins in the male plug have pushed partially out as the loom is very short and they are prone to this problem, especially when the seat is moved fully forward.

Hi

Probably your seat mirror memory is broke (below the driverseat), but they can be repaired; visited: rangerover.ecu-rc.com
