hi folks

i took my p38 out tonight and my air compressor for the air suspention failed and got really hot so i pulled over and the engine stop so i tried to restart it and when i turned the key nothing happend apart from the lights round the auto gear shift and the radio and the heater controls would go dim. the pump has been removed and is totally gone and i have ordered a new one could anyone shine a light on why i cant get it to start please

thanks Michael

no iam starting it in park and when i turn the key to the start posiotion it wont even turn over and the ignition light stay bright but the light around the gear shift go dim it only stopped starting after the air compressor failed

i have had a multimetre to check if i had power to the starter motor and fuel pump and also the EAS compressor and i have not got any power to any of them. so could the BECM have shut down due to the compressor getting getting jammed up and getting too hot or is it more likely the BECM faulty the starting problem only started when the piston in the compressor snapped off and jammed the motor up and the motor got realt hot but i had no messages on the message centre telling me i have a fault

As Irishrover said, check the underbonnet fuse box.

Assuming it's a V8 (Cos it's an Auto) and if you have the "Check Engine" light on, the chances are that the problem is further down the line.
The EAS compressor is not controlled by the Becm, the Becm merely acts as a "Gateway" for any fault messages to be displayed on the instrument cluster. The power for the EAS comes from the engine bay fusebox via a Maxi fuse. That's why I suggest you place more emphasis in this area. You could have damaged tracks on the fusebox pcb's which is restricting current flow to the Ignition, Starter and Fuel pump relays which happen to be mounted on the pcb's.

Owya doin Keith...are you still sober like me (So far) ?
