got back home today. the side lights were on . tried to start it (2.5dse) cranks fine but no fire -up. also the light switch was in the off position. anyone had this problem occur before?. had a new becm recently and been fine since. getting fed up with the unreliability. mike

Yup.....Mine has started doing it again, usually when the weather is damp, either the side lights will come on, or the horn starts blaring......usually about 2:30 in the morning.

My neighbours love me......
 
Mine went slowly bonkers and me with it started with lights on and off then poor starting when warm then it started locking and unlocking itself whilst driving burned out both front actuators on the door and the rf receiver failed hence all the alarm issues new actuators and fuse box and all the problems disappeared
 
The fuse box overheats and burns relay connections due to high resistance...

Packing it full of Vaseline would aid the repair process because after the ensuing fire the insurance will buy you a new car.....

I don't think you can do anything to prevent the problem.
