Hi All, When I start my 1995 4.6 HSE there is often and recently quite persistent clicking sound coming from behind the glove box. It's a bit like a solenoid clicking sound at about a half second interval. It stops after a short while but I'm getting sick of the missus saying to me "WHAT is that clicking???" in a very irritated tone with the inference of "yet another problem with this flippin car". Any suggestions would be very helpful; it's nice to know what I'm looking for if I start to take things apart : )

EAS self levelling? Mine makes a clicking noise, about 4 or 5 clicks in succession although I can normally only hear it when the car is still and the engine is off, normally when passengers have got out.
It is a good thing though, it actually means something is working as it should.
Turn the radio up, cures all cabin noise inclucding the Mrs :)

I'm ashamed to admit that I bought a P38 with a coil spring conversion (saving up to reverse the process asap) so it can't be that. I have discovered however that if I switch the aircon off it doesn't make the noise so it might be a pipe cooling down or something? Good tip re the radio though

Having said that, Drew Parkes posting today (Glove Box Removal) mentions the 'Blend Motor' so that might have something to do with it - did mention it sounded a bit like a soleniod - that's like a servo right?
If I have to take off the entire fascia to get at it, this might be the time to consider the fascia replacement due to serious warping around the vents that I've been dreading. One thing after another eh?

I do have a book symbol on my HEVAC display, but it has been there a while and one of my compressor fan motors is not working so I figured it was that. Is this the time I need to consider a Faultmate to separate the problems?

While we are on the subject; does anyone have, or have access to a new or recon compressor fan motor? I'm having trouble locating one on the internet. It will require international shipping or be local to London or Plymouth, which is where I will be during the next fortnight from Sunday.

I would bet its the servo stalled and the sound you hear is the gear wheel clicking as it tries to drive the flap. A Faultmate is always a wise purchase in my book. Go for the MSV2 that gives you coomplete control over everything.
