Hi there

when using my P38 to tow the caravan i have a problem that when the lights are switched on, a short while later the trailer lights go out!! Indicators, brake lights work just the side/main lights. If i turn light off and on agian they stay on for about 15 seconds then go out again, and so on. Seems like a relay is overheating with the extra draw of rear lights etc

Any thoughts!!!!

Yup its a bit too cloudy and cold today ;)

:welcome2:

You'll also need to check your wiring ;)
Or only tow in the daylight :D :D

There is no relay on the P38 for lighting.
The P38 was designed for towing and the electrics are well capable of coping with the extra lighting loads from a trailer/caravan.
I suggest you check that the negative feed from the car is clean and good for starters. If needs be run a separate neg. to the 12N (Black) trailer socket. If that is good, check all connections in the 12N car socket and also the 12N plug, fitted to the pikey wagon.
I feel that you have a dodgy connection that is breaking down.
