Top hose is perished so can I just swap it and top up or should I bleed it ? if so How?
I get Gearbox overheat fault as soon as I start up so I suspect the sensor, some journeys it never goes off?
Had a look and I think I can see the wires but cant see the sensor on the little rad?
Any idea of the resistance of a new sensor so I can just short it out?

Are you talking '38 Mr winch?
Does it have a fan also?
If so, look behind your passenger head light, there is a red and a blue plug. One for the fan and one for the sensor. You can follow them down from there to your rad. It may be fixed to the outside frame of the rad close to the bumper. In fact if you have the fan there'll be two. ;)

He did post P38 Mark but not engine type. . Are we to assume auto?

You don't need to read everything. Yeh know:rolleyes:..
Try disconnecting the sensor. It may be just a thermal switch?
Check for resistance or a short.
