P38 starting problems

Removed the resistor and refitted the hot start fix, now get glows on hot starts, 11.7 ish volts on glow 6 while glow light on then off then back on while cranking then off when engine starts.. Assuming that's all correct? It starts much better but does still need some cranking. I can live with that though.

11.7 volts is about right, the glowplugs if they are the correct ones are rated at 11 volts. Sounds OK to me.

Just got my donor home.. 95 DT with 175000 on clock. No hot start fix and starts first turn of key hot or cold. Runs sweet as a nut, powerfull, pulls hard..... What parts should I put in the other to make it the same?

Just a got the p38 back from the garage, fitted the pump off the donor motor, now fires first crank when hot, and pulls away like a train..... Well happy and he only charged me £200...

Said he checked the timing on the old pump and it wasn't very far out at all so was the pump causing the problems not the timing...

All in all jobs a good un

Thanks for all the advice

All is not as well is I thought. Hope this could be an easy fix tho... Engine lamp is on now and nanocom says the following fault

Needle lift sensor invalid value
Type: high circuit, major fault, logged

Needle lift sensor may just be the connector as they would have had the manifold off or even the wire trapped.

I'm also getting the following

Road speed sensor out of expected range

Water temp invalid value

Any idea? I've tried clearing the faults but they come straight back
Again wiring will have been disturbed, water temp sensor for the gauge is above the FIP, sensor for the EDC is a bit further along the head, all in the general work area.
Think I'd take it back to the garage.

People have been known to trap the number four injector wire in the manifold. Check that. Remove your hot start if you have not already. See what you get then.

Just spoke to garage. He advised me to check all the fuses and also he gave it a good steam clean to a bit of water may have worked into connectors and be throwing up the faults. Is that likely?

Checked the wire from needle lift sensor and it looks ok

Hot start fix not removed yet but will take it off in a bit
