Hi, my 1998 p38 dse auto is shuddering when reversing slowly. This happens when it has warmed up. It is fine when moving forward at any speed in a straight line or when cornering. Any ideas please?? (somebody has suggested the viscous coupling could be the culprit). It feels as if the brakes could be sticking when in reverse. Many thanks, kenny

Could be either just needing an oil service in the gearbox including cleaning out the filters or worse, a complete replacement. Had the very same thing with a 4.0 Jaguar and it was a clutch canister (how it was described to me) split. These things work under extreme pressure and a fluctuation will cause the judder. £2600 to fix - just as well the warranty paid! May just be a worn joint though so check from the wheels to the gearbox.

Thanks Andy,

Only when warm.

From cold it's as it should be in a straight line and with a full lock on.

I'll try what you suggest and report back.

Thanks agaimn,

Kenny
