I best try and figure out this map business then. Need to try one on Air as sounds like it'll spur me on to ditch the coils I'm currently struggling with! But that's a different topic altogether...

Me neither on this one as the code isn't even listed on the Generic code list that came with the scanner.
Never the less for what it is and diagnosing engine sensors was very useful on my old 540i which was another German ignition system that had a typical appetite for engine sensors!

No fortunately not only had one RR with an oill burner fitted, not for me!
Had a 3.9 Classic after that now this one is a 4.6 Thor which has ran perfectly until I went and spent money on it getting it has converted! Doh, sods law

The Plot thickens.....seems like the BECM in the vehicle has been changed.
LR Yeovil are being as much use as an inflatable dartboard and finally said if I wait a few weeks for £200 they might be able to extract the VIN from the BECM that I can the use to order the correct key fob!
Luckily Mozz is on the case but cannot believe how unhelpful they are!!

Might be looking at Faultmate territory. Not sure the Nanocom will help unless the BECM was left unlocked?
@Rick-the-Pick is the BECM expert.

check the becm on top visually,everyone ive sold c/w keys etc i used a permanent marker recording the reg/ vin & eka clearly written for future reference, you could be lucky.

Thanks Chaps,
Through the help of Mozz and everyone else I am going to send the BECM off to Rick the Pick with the new key to get it all sorted once and for all!
Rick tells me he can also set the BECM up so it immobilises once the key unlocks the door which future proofs the issue.
I feel I was unnecessarily harsh on Yeovil LR in my frurstrations and they have delivered the goods regarding the information required of the new key to enable me to get it recoded to the current BECM.
Quite a saga but good to know there's people out there willing to be so helpful!

What tipped me off the edge is when I finally got through to the workshop I asked can you pull the BECM VIN with your diagnostics I was told no........I believe that to be incorrect

There's Ann's Pasties round the corner and some scrumpy stuff that is loopy-juice. The St. Austell Big Job is better as a session ale though, IMO. Short session to be fair.
