Hi All.

my P38 back on the road, but I have a couple of gremlins/grumbles.

I had some ignition/lockout problems, now fixed. The rear windows however, appear not to work from the centre console in the front. They will however work fine from the switches in the rear doors.

The rear window "on/off" switch on the console appears to work (at least it triggers appropriate messages on the dash), but the switches themselves don't yield any joy.

Any ideas? I doubt this car be a fuse, as they work in one mode. I hope it's not wiring, but fear it might be.

Any ideas? Anyone had the same problem?

The switches in the centre console go through an outstation in there whereas the switches in the doors go straight to the BeCM. I would suspect either the console switches themselve or the outstation. I'm assuming your front windows work OK? As these also work through the same outstation, it would say all power etc is OK. Failing that, a BECM problem. When you switch the rear winbdows off on the console, does it disable the door mounted switches?

Interesting, thanks Brian.

Front windows work fine, from centre console and front door switches.

Rear windows however only work from rear door switches.

However, the "rear window lock" switch in the centre console appears to isolate the rear windows correctly, and trigger the correct messages via the BECM to the dashboard. So power I assume is OK. Sunroof also works from the centre console, etc.

It seems unlikely that both rocker switches in the centre console would have failed at the same time, so I assume it's wiring or BECM.

This could be connected to a visit it had to a garage recently - they fixed a damaged cable in the drivers door (a short) and front fogs recently fitted to the BECM. Maybe they knocked a cable between the console and the BECM?

Where on earth did you get Brian from??? The clue's in the name.
Your front fogs may have had to be enabled in the BeCM. It seems sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Perhaps whilst they were in there they did something else although what I don't know. I think the BeCM needs to be accessed again with testbook or Faultmate to see if the BeCM is recognising the switch operation. I don't know whether you can get at the rear of the switch on the console to be able to test it or whether it's all part of the outstation I've never had one adrift - That would be the only other thing you could do if it is possible.
Hopefully one of the BeCM experts on here will be able to advise you better.
