Most P38's i have ever seen always have an exhaust outlet either side of the rear of the car and ive also noticed that most of the Jap imports do too albeit i have seen some with just one outlet on the offside of the car in a twin pipe form.

I noticed a P38 for sale the other day with Alders Classics in Norfolk area who do them up and sell them on. He has a burgundy P reg P38 with just one exhaust twin pipe exit on the offside. I asked if it was a jap import and he assures me it is a full blow uk car. On checking the M.O.T history on DVLA it has a lot of M.O.T listed which puts the car in the uk for a long time.
My question is, did all uk P38's have an outlet either side of the car or did some have an outlet on the offside too on its own???
Deep down i think it is a jap import from long ago and he is just trying to bluff me and has maybe put a uk clock pod in it and a uk stereo to hide its true life.

Anyone out there own such an example at all with a one sided exhaust??

Wot Brian said..

The later cars with twin outlets are nice, especially if you have a nice stainless exhaust ;)

Mine had what looked like brief cases that hung below the bumper, and you couldn't see the pipes they were ugly, and sounded pants. ;)

The thing about Jap cars is they keep them for a very short time, the emissions test are very strict, you never see old cars out there, and by old I mean 4-5 years old that is, they are exported, unless it's a real classic

Indeed yes. I have owned 3 of those Nissan Elgrand day vans in the past and they were all like brand new inside and out and underneath. Their M.O.T is called a shaken test. Very strict.

+1 early diesel
easy to crumple the back box(es) off road so I had straight pipe on back section for years. One pipe is less trouble and even less than half the expense
