got 2 keys with my p38, key 1 has worked fine via fob/remote locking etc

key 2 he said needed new bateries never used it, so ive bought 2x the kits off ebay with batteries, battery cover, new button replacement

but when i put the batteries in the spare key, the light lights up as i turn the battery cover, then the lights wont work when i press the button and cant seem to sync it/remote locking wont work , i think theres a fault in the actual fob with the inner button-circut or something ?

any ideas what to do ?

to clarify- ive tried turning it in the lock and then pressing button, and also turning it to lock-press lock, center it, then turn to unlock and press unlock, and nothing (the key works tho, just no button working)

Sounds like water damage to the fob?

afraid you probably need a complete new key!

hope not :( , dont fancy forking out £145 for a spare key lol

if it was totaly shot, the light wouldnt flash would it when new batteries are locked in ?

is there anything i can try or anyone who could refurb it or something ?

You're sort of answering your own question. You're quite right, if the light flashes as you put the batteries in then there is life. I would also suspect the button function.

But before you do any more playing around get far away from the car. The last thing that you want to do is confuse or super-lock the BECM as you play with the key. Try putting the old buttons back in, the new ones might be faulty.
If all else fails you might be one of the very few people for whom it might be worth buying a RR key off ebay. Then you could use the guts and blade from yours and put them into the otherwise useless new key.

If you run out of ideas PM me.
