Wait a while and undo it slowly and let the pressure slowly bleed off. Never just unscrew it and remove it just after engine stops. Any part of the cooling system that is over boiling point will give off vapour which will expand and cause coolant to be expelled.

Hi all. what f****ng censor?
Well, tried brakes, looked em all over, and yep, they're brakes alright. Seem to stop the car when I need, so guess they may be alright. front diff? Possibility, just changed the black sludge for some nice new oil, hope that may improve it. Looked steering mech over, can't see anything disconnected or held on by bungee cords. Is that normal? As for the water tank, I stupidly looked just in case there wasn't any coolant, as in head-gasket had gone and engine seized. Found out that there was an awful lot of coolant left, so in future, won't do that test again. Got second degree burns and scarring to add to the others I've earned through the years. Checked coolant pipework, all seems in good order, clear and clean. Checked over suspension as far as I can, it being air, is a little out of my experience, but all seems to be working.
It hasn't done it since, and is working just as well as when we first picked it up, so stumped this end.
Now don't feel like I can trust it to do any distance, just in case it happens again. And I wanted it so I could do some long runs in comfort.
My thoughts are, do I keep it, or sell it on and try something else, like another Jeep?

Was it because I used the 'J' word? Always drove 'series' land rovers up until ten years ago, so twenty five plus years, then I encountered a broken back and suspension on cars.
Moved over to the J's for the comfort. Now want to go back to Landys again. does that help molify things a little?
