I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction with a Hevac issue on my 96 DSE,
i would try searching but the search function still appears to be out.
When i'm driving along the hevac screen is flickering on and off and the fan stops running when it goes off, at the same time the milometer seems to flicker but not go off, i'm not sure how the Hevac screen could affect the milometer? This seems to happen every couple of minutes like its overheating then resetting, iv'e had the unit out and can't find any bad connections but cleaned them any way with contact cleaner, Any ideas what else to check?

If you give it a sniff you may smell burning,

Sometimes it’s obvious when you look, other times they seem totally fine but are duff. Check them all and earths and connectors while I was there I would. Check simple stuff first before diving deeper

Could be a problem with the under bonnet fuse box, check the heater fan relay & fuses for signs of blued contact pins and for smells of burning.

Thanks for the help, something i noticed today not sure if it means anything, it seems to stop going on and off but still flickers a bit when i had the headlights on, going to try and have a look tomorrow iv'e got to drive to Birmingham on Saturday about 250 miles round trip, so i'm sweating a bit !!

Welcome to Range Rover ownership. Every journey is an adventure.

There are some proper experts on here and I'm not one fo them, so my advice comes with that caveat - but I had a similar experience in a P38 4.6 and that turned out to be battery problems.

If the symptoms change with heavy electrical load switched on I'd be looking for bad earth straps.

Could be a sign of impending alternator failure.
