Just a quick question about the heater matrix. I'm getting the wet carpet on my P38, so I guess the o-rings have gone on the heater matrix so...

a) If i'm going as far as replacing the o-rings, is there much extra to replacing the matrix as well? Britpart do the whole thing about £40ish

b) Ive seen shortcuts on other forums, which talk about doing the whole matrix change in a few hours as opposed to 12+ hours following RAVE, but they talk about it on a LHD. Has anyone followed the shortcuts on a RHD and is it much harder/different?

Cheers

With the reputation that ****part seem to have, I'd just do the "O" rings! The shortcuts seem to work, lots of posts about it if you do a search. Also worth looking at Range Rovers or rangerover renovations for info.

The biggest problem you have with short cut is the lack of access. When I did my first one, following the short cut method, I found I could not budge the screw that clamps the heater pipe. After hours of frustation I ended up taking the dashboard out. It didnt take that long and was fairly straighforward. The next time I just cut to the chase and pulled the dash out. I also replaced the matrix that time which requires a bit of messing about with the dashboard support frame.

Did mine couple of months back planned on changing the matrix at same time but after struggling to remove the clamp screw decided it could wait lol

i used a ratchet plus several extensions with socket bit to remove screw couldn't get enough torque to loosen screw with just a screwdriver !!!

as JT says lack of access with the shortcuts is a big problem

There is an "upgrade" to fit an audi matrix which does not have the orings so eliminates future oring issues.Cant remember the exact details, but it is detailed on the US site.(Rangerovers.net).
