Hi,
As winter approaches I', thinking about finally fixing the problem with heated seats in my rangie. Just wondering if any of you have any tips on repair heated seats. I was just about to embark on the fix detailed below.

http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/seats/seatheat4.html

But then I found you can buy the post 2000 elements (supposedly with a permanent fix for the problem) for approx £25 inc vat from rimmer bros.

So my questions are
1) Has anyone followed the advice above at rangerovers.net ?
2) Has anyone used the post 2000 elements on a pre 2000 car and was it fine ?

BTW had to get a wheel bearing replaced. Range Rover dealers near me will only supply a new hub (£350). Nice !

Have fun folks

Tony

I've only ever fitted gen lr ones and they've been modified to run cooler as the early ones were burning out, no problems as far as i know.

as for your hub, thats the only way to go, you cant get a wheel bearing on its own

Hi Tony, You can actually buy the wheel bearings. they are £60 each from www.paddockspares.com. However, you need a big press 25 tonne minimum to press them out of the hub. I did all 4 on mine last year. I had to get a 3/4 plate and make a special bracket to fit the hub into the press and it still bent the plate, but enabled me to do the job. You will also need a little angle grinder to cut the race off the front stub axle. It helps if you have a hot spanner available too. It is all do-able.

forget that seat heater repair, if you gonna strip the seat down you may aswell fit a new element, just sticks on the foam, as clutchdust says they have also been modified so the element does not cross the leather fixing points anymore, :)

Thanks for all the comments.
So one final question Rimmerbros list two parts.

VIN YA (2000) on[/SIZE]

Interestingly I've been told is only the latter that has the fix, does anyone know if this is a true or just a rumour ?
The reason for asking is the latter type are £12 cheaper each

Cheers
Tony

Hi
Regards the wheel bearing I got mine replaced by local Landie specialist after buying the bearing from Island 4x4 total cost was £140 after I took off the parts. I have been meaning to take the bearing part numbers to my local bearing specialist to see if I could get the bearings even cheaper and let you all know.

Thanks Craig
