P38 gear select issues

Hiya all I have a p38 and I have a problem which I need help
Once you put it in gear the car stalls any help would be very much appreciated

Welcome along Scott. Forgive me for being teacher, but you need to give a little more information... What year? Petrol/diesel? If petrol, 4.0 or 4.6 is it a GEMS or a THOR and so on... Mileage, service history good, middling or bad?

Do an oil change and stick some Lucus transfix in there and run it for a while a few thou then repeat.

Put it on diag and check for quantity servo fault.

Now we know it is a diesel.....as Wammers says, check the quantity servo.....this will introduce more diesel into the injection pump to increase the idle speed when the load of the gearbox is taken up....
