Hi guys.

Just had a couple of slow punctures fixed so had the tracking done at the same time.

He advised me that the bushes on the front axle support arms were markedly worn.

Are these the drag links that I keep hearing being mentioned and if so are they an easy diy job to fix?

Would certainly explain my dodgy handling at the moment but I'm a bit surprised the Mot didn't pick it up 4 months ago - not even an advisory.

They did the tracking with the suspension at full height. Is that the right way to do it?

No they are the radius arms. Drag link is the rod from steering box to N/S hub. It matters not at what height tracking is done, it cannot change with height changes.

Thanks Wammers.

Are the radius arm bushes an easy diy fix? Presumably they would also cause handling issues? I hope so cos I really am not enjoying driving it at the moment and I want to get to the bottom of it.

Going to check/correct my suspension heights tomorrow if I can master the search function enough to find em! Left my hard copy at work.

If you fit poly bushes they are easier than the OEM ones. They require a special tool and press.

The problem with the oem bushes is they have a hard plastic outer shell that is larger than the hole they have to go into. You need a conical guide and a press to get them fitted as Wammers says. Personly I wouldn't fit polybushes either.
