Hi all,

I've been reading these forums with interest over the past couple of weeks - and fixed all sorts of minor problems with my p38 - thanks guys!

Anyway, this is my first post - so go easy on me! I've had my p38 for almost a year now, and all in all it's been very reliable. When I purchased it, the guy said that he had alot of problems with the EAS so removed it and put it on springs instead. Fair enough.

My neighbour has now just got one the same as mine - but with the EAS intact, and I love the ride it gives!

Basically what I am wondering is how much involvement and cost is involved to reverse the springs back to air?? I know the compressor is still there, underneath the chassis on the drivers side. The box of tricks under the bonnet (by the cruise control stuff) is totally empty, but there are some air line pipes poking out of the side of it!

Any thoughts and suggestions welcome!

Ian

problem being you really do need to know exactly what has been removed, the compressor under the chassis you talk of is actually the air tank, the box next to the c/control is where the compressor used to be and the valve block too, these are availabe but will prob cost a small fortune new, second hand will be cheaper of course but reliability may be an issue putting you back to how it was before!
also finding the origonal problem may even still be there, air bags are not worth buying second hand, £250-£300 will probably get 4 new ones, it wil be a pricey job and as i said before the origonal fault/s that caused springs to be fitted in the first place may still be there.
there is also an ECU for the AES, is it still there? a time relay under the passenger seat, is it still there?
this could be a very long winded job just to see whats there and whats not!
im guessing there may have been a lot of faults as oppose to just one, otherwise why not just repair it and keep the AES going?

tough call................

at the end of the day i think EAS is great and i wouldn't want to be without it.

good luck................
