Hi, the fip on my p38 diesel has started leaking around the top. Not sure exactly if it’s the very top or next section down. Question is ....is this repairable as an in car job or has pump got to come out, also does anybody have the part number for repair kit. Car is a 96 2.5 dse auto. Thanks .

Bay item number 271926113110. For vauxhall omega same engine and pump just different electrickry inside. Can be done in situ just make sure you put marks on the casing so you can get it back in alignment otherwise you be in deep do do

As above.
Scribe it on ALL sides. The pump top has to be back in place to within fractions of a millimetre.

What mileage is the pump on? The bad news is that often the FIP itself will need an overhaul by the time the seal starts leaking so you might be looking at bigger expense in the near future, especially if it has done over 120k miles.
