after months of enduring its soft fault mode, jacking itself up to maximum ride height whenever it felt like it, not locking in other heights when told to by prssing the lockout switch and taking 5 mins to drop into access (usually only the front, arse end still at maximum), i have finally cracked it!
after being told about the 101 things it could be, i eventually tried changing the valve block, thinking it could have faulty exhaust valves. just my luck though, i changed it for a worse one that did nothing!
so i changed it back again, and forgot to screw the exhaust back in on the side of the valve block. i fired it up and at last, it was doing exactly what it should. it was making a noise like an hgv changing gear though from the side of the valve block, getting rid of its excess air.
then i realised i hadnt replaced its exhaust, put it back and the problem returned! so i replaced the part, costing just £20, and there you go, perfect. well chuffed.
drives better now than ever, i've sorted the eka code (microswitches in door lock), seized rear brake caliper replaced, eas now working, just got to get my fob working and were done. might try upgrading the rf receiver.
cheers guys.

Thanks for the update Kong. Pity a few more people don't tell the rest of us when they have a fix-quick enough to post a problem, get some advice, then nothing until the next problem crops up. Some might read this as a moan, but the rest of us like to be aware of good results and any problems getting them.

got to agree there irishrover it,s nice when people who solve problems post back,to give us all an idea of a fix.i myself have found a cheap fix one of my power steering pipes has developed a leak,at the swaige fitting,so instead of paying £100 for a new one i took it to pirtek as they fix repair and replace hydrolic hoses and pipes,£20 to have a new piece of hose fitted to the original fittings and only took 30 mins for them to do,they also make stainless steel brake flexi hose pipes, just take your old ones in for the dimensions apparantly cheaper than goodridge ones

the little black exhaust filter? that you screw into the end- this fixed it?- i have opened that filter up before- it just a bit of sponge and a felt pad...it looked a tiny bit dirty, but I wouldn't have thought it could cause such a pita.
I did read somewhere that these should be changed every 12 months or so...
interesting anyway!

its true canyon, on the new one, i can slowly blow through it, a bit like blowing up a difficult baloon, but on the problem one, i couldnt blow through it at all. it must have been causing the air to keep on building up and not releasing it.
