Hi all, removed the glow plugs today following RAVE, but couldn't see why the high pressure fuel rails need to be removed, so didn't do it and all 6 glowplugs came out no problem.
I'm not sure why RAVE recommends removing the high pressure rails, but in my opinion leaving them in situ is a much better idea, not only due to time saving but also prevention of dirt getting in and the need to bleed all six fuel lines afterwards....
Am I missing something??
Also, I am slightly concerned about the amount of oil in the inlet manifold pipework - I would describe it as a 'reasonable coating over the inside of the pipework, without actually dripping out' - I know the crank breather vents into the inlet manifold (mine is pre-EGR) so some would be expected, just wondering what other people who have had the manifold off have found? Is a fair amount of oil coating the internals normal?
TIA for your help, hopefully when the new plugs arrive I can get them in and the bl**dy thing will start!! I have tested three of the plugs (the other three broke when I removed the nut holding the cable in place), one worked and two were dead, so hopefully this is the cause of my non starting problem
Cheers
Jerry
