thanks wammers, pressure gauge is correct was recently calibrated (sykes-pickavant) from my friends workplace where its used regularly, what would be the max figure that could be achieved ? or am i nearly there?

Don't have clue what the max would be, but think what you have is not shabby.

thanks again wammers, but after talking with data about the oil smear we all get from the breather filter from cam cover to inlet ducting, i think mine maybe a bit excessive and have to clean it out twice a year or the smoking exhaust starts, hence the compression test, thinking i had a ring problem as the smoke is a light bluey grey, once ive cleaned all parts concerned out, even the inlet manifold, it runs without smoke at any rev range, five or six months later every thing is oiled up and the smoke starts again, i even clean out the oil mesh in the cam cover its just a clean black (no bits in) oily smear, and from what i can make out quite excessive as i dont do many miles ive had it two & half yrs now and havent done the 40 or 50,000 miles that some are getting before a cleanout, could it be the very thin oil thats in it.?

I use 10W40 Shell Helix Ultra full synthetic, just paid €27 for 7 litres.
Could be the seals are worn on the turbo allowing a little oil past.
Booting it now and again keeps mine clean and smoke free.

Think i have already said the oil is to thin for this climate. You may get some improvement with thicker oil.

hi data, turbo is new maybe 4 months old, definitely going 10/40 but maybe mineral or semi, with regular service, thanks
