I've just purchased a P38 DSE, But i have a little problem that some one might be able to help me with. (Well i have a few things to fix)

The Air con belt keeps coming off, I've had a look and noticed that the air con pump pulley and main pulley are out of line. I can't see why? Has anyone else had this problem before? It looks like the air con pump is sticking out too far.

I'll take a photo tomorrow and post it up on here, Some one might be able to see why they are out of line.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Andy,

You don't say what year your P38 is ... I have assumed its a 1995, (From your Signature) ...

That being the case .. it MAY BE that before you bought the vehicle it had its compressor exchanged ..... but.... FOR THE WRONG UNIT .... the Compressor fitted to the V8 (Gems engine) looks identical to the one fitted to the BMW M51 engine but is slightly longer (With a protuding pulley)

I would hazard a guess that you have the V8 compressor fitted NOT the BMW M51 Variant....

I just had a good look at mine ... (4.6 V8).. my compressor does stick out a bit ... but it has a steel collar on the pulley (to make the pulley the same width as the belt) you might
just check that yours has this bit fitted (or it cracked & flown off somwhere)
