You don't have to quench it after, the important thing it to get it to the correct temp, cherry red

I did have a brief go at removing one injector and could not shift it using the proper socket. It felt seized. Decided to quit before breaking something! Dark and somewhat chilly!

Did you try with the engine warm?
Could make a bit of difference.
