Hi folks....Just back home after my trip to Scotland to deliver the Faultmate and test rig to it's new owner.
The new owner is a landyzone forum member "jimsnapon" who is based in Kilmarnock, which is good news for those of you North of the border. I have given him a thorough run through Becm problems and fixes and offered to give him technical back up if required. He is a P38 owner and has considerable hands on experience of their "Quirks"...he also has, shall we say, more than one P38 in his stable, both petrol and diesel. I am sure that he will take up from where I have left off and continue to be of benefit to those with Becm & other problems as he has the full diagnostic software including T4 and other systems.
In doing my bit for the planet I went over in Er'Indoors Mitsubishi Colt and 50 odd miles from home, the clutch decided to give up the ghost after 50k miles on the clock. After a €250 ride on the back of a recovery truck to home*, it is obvious that someone up (or down) there thinks I am not due for an easy life just yet, so it's gearbox off time....glad it's not a P38, but time will tell. So much for Japanese reliability. If Britpart made clutches, based on this episode, I would definately use one !!

* Despite having AA Breakdown cover which only allows for a 15km tow/ recovery to either home or a garage, whichever is the nearest...anything above that is chargeable and they would only accept cash-no cards but they are happy to drop you off at the bank of your choice for no extra charge !!

Tis the good Lord punishing you for giving up on us:behindsofa: Should have swapped the V8 for an oil burner and kept the diagnostics going to pay for it, after all you need a hobby to keep you from under the feet of the missus and out of the pub:clap2::clap2:

Never mind the colt will keep you busy for a while, I must agree with Datatek, the get out card has gone plus you can't now turn on the puter in the workshop as a 'Just have something to check/test, dear".....

Away good luck with your retirement from BECM repairs, as for the a/c clutch tool and seal tool (if still available) please transfer them in to the box destined for me, let me know how many beer tokens you require for settlement and I'II sort out a barrel payment, box to be delivered to Chesterfield......;)

That box of yours has been opened and closed that many times, I've decided to put hinges and a door handle on it !!!:D:D
Consider it done, I will send you a PM with the damage after I have done the Colt and will ship, as agreed when we are over in December.
Just done a quick trawl on the web and it looks like it's gonna cost around £220 for a poxy, small clutch kit for 'Er Indoors motor but looking at the job, removal of the gearbox is going to be a damn sight easier than dropping a P38 Auto and Transfer box. I'll get to use my large tub of Swarfega up quickly the rate I'm going !!!

Hi Irish, I can't believe what i'm reading...selling up your BECM diagnostics, your knowledge/service on here is invaluble. As a new owner i am just starting to find out about the P38's little electrical idiosyncrasies!

Good luck with the Colt though, my missus' Mondeo clutch and flywheel has just gone taking the crank sensor with it so £220 looks good (stupid dual mass flywheels!)
