Trying to see if it’s was the fuel leak first rather than doing to many things at once

From cold how many times should the engine turn to fire up? Mine takes about 5-6 turns before fires up, when engine is hot and start ups straight away but think this is because of new chains?

Glow plugs or leak off pipes are favourite for poor cold starting.

Leak off pipes only return the excess lube fuel back to the tank they cannot put air in the injection pump or HP fuel lines.

Yep lube fuel. The spill fuel is the fuel that escapes under pressure from the high pressure chamber to lubricate the shaft of the nozzle pin.

Check your glow plugs as said and make sure you don't have the cheap Chinese ones fitted they are useless. Beru or NGK's and you cant go wrong
