Hi, another problem with my rangie.

Recently had a new clutch kit fitted all was well, but yesterday clutch pedal went to floor and was leaking fluid from slave, fitted new slave cylinder but just have no pressure in pedal after bleeding it, pedal just stays on the floor.

I had read posts about sheard pins and about clutch arm been able to be moved too far, my arm is pressurized when pushing by hand towards front off the car and no movement to rear of car, seems pins are ok?

If I pump the pedal by hand when its slack it forces piston out the end of slave, Could it do that if not bleed proberly?

thnaks

If you disconnect the slave cylinder on the side of the gearbox and the lever going in the bell housing just moves about then pins probably sheared.

Replacing the pins isn't hard but it is a long job (only done it once and it took me 2 days) and a total bar-steward without a four-poster and a transmission jack (or two because getting the gearbox aligned back up when you're pushing it in is quite tricky.)

Maybe they did fit new pins? In which case warranty might cover it?

Did they hell. New pins were not fitted, else it wouldn't of broke.

You have to seperate the gearbox from the housing first, & the mechanism is staring you in the face. You then remove the bell housing & mechanism together.

Someone has made a costly mistake.

The new pressure plate spring fingers are a lot stiffer and will finish old and worn pins In no time just like yours :)

Are new pins part of the clutch replacement procedure in RAVE? Could he claim negligence or similar?

I know one thing, it'll cost a fortune unless he does it himself.

It was done by a local garage cost £300 pounds to fit clutch thats with me supplying parts, took back they have renewed pins and a new slave cylinder for another £200:( , problem I have now is I only have clutch feel in pedal from about 2inch or so from floor then the rest of of pedal feels like nothing there, so press clutch down feel nothing then about inch from floor clutch releases very hard to use. Im going to go back down garage but would like to have some idea what it is before going.

Thanks

Sounds like you have some air in system check fluid level if its going down you have a leak if not , hopfully air

Good luck thanks for the heads up :)

Surely they'd have bled it until it worked?

I know it needed 2 of us to do it when I did mine. Loosen, foot to floor, tighten, foot up routine! Took at least 6 or 7 goes I think to get all the air out. Seem to remember it wasn't quick.

£200 is a good deal. Those pins are a bugger to get to.
