p38 clutch slipping

Hi im having clutch issues, i have fitted 2 new clutches to my p38 dse in the past 2 yrs and i cant stop the clutch slipping, , everything new both times new disc,pressure plate release bearing and pilot bearing, im not having cylinder issues as the pin onto the slave cylinder is loose when the clutch pedal is released, any advice would be really welcome.. thanks,, Sean

Is your flywheel in good condition ? Need to check it for cracks(tiny) and blueing (excessive heat)

Or the install hasn't been done correctly - does the car move freely (i.e. Clutch not engaged and no transmission drag - siezed vcu etc)

Or driving style riding the clutch etc

the vehicle is moving freely , the fitting was done perfect, i will open it within a week as i must change the gearbox (running very rough), i will inspect the flywheel then

Get a good quality clutch kit cheap and cheerful are just that.

I spoke to Paul (?) Ashcroft about this a few years ago. He reckons anything other than a Valeo clutch just cannot handle the torque.

Valeo is what was fitted last time , I will have it opened within a week and hopefully the problem will present itself , I will post my findings ,, thanks to you all

How did you get on? Find anything?

Watching with interest as I fitted a valeo recently after the rollpins went .

Worth replacing the pin's whilst it's stripped down.

Double-pin it; triple-pin it; bang something up the centre and jam it there. Stupidest design on the whole damn car!

I was tempted to tack weld the fork to the pivot bar.

I bought a transmission adapter for my trolley jack, don't fancy doing it without one these day's. Been there, done it without a jack, never again.Needs must when you are 1000 miles from home.

Hmm 270nm is hardly a mountainous amount of torque

Pretty sure many a Clutch plate would be able to cope with that

Oil contamination on the Clutch Disk..

maybe, would explain the fact the car is going through clutches like a MOFO.

I think there is something else going on. I remember another member had an issue where he replaced just about everything and still couldn't work it out. He sold the car on in the end. And his day job was a Porsche mechanic, IIRC.
