P38 blowers

The blowers on my p38 packed up a while back,when i was in uk at xmas i had the car on a diagnostics and it said the faults were in the left and right hand blowers,i was then told by someone else that there are 3 blowers on this model not 2 and i would need to replace all of them,then told by an auto elecy that it could be the resistor or hedgehog(fckd if i know what he meant(does this mean i have a spikey little critter behind the dash))and to replace that first,Oh and its a bstd of a job:doh:.
Now can someone lay this out straight for me,i`m good with electrics but have no idea where to start.
1 do i replace hedgehog or do i feed it
2 how many motors are there
3 can i replace just the motors or do i have to replace the whole lot
4 is it a diy job or do i need to look for a (dare i say it)expert
Oh and can some one tell me why my outside temp always says -40 its never been that cold in Portugal and how do i fix it.

Check relays 6 & 7 in the underbonnet fuse box and also check the fuse box for signs and smells of burning. There are 2 blowers.

Have done that already,relays seem ok they click when removed and put back in and theres no smell of burning.How would you test the relay i have a multimeter but its been a long time since using it to test relays.

for both blower to pack up at the same time would make me think there is a problem with the fusebox.

Can i test the blowers if i can find there power leads this would then tell me if they are still working,as for fuse box everything else seems to be ok.

Prise the covers of the relays and look at the contacts, the fact that they click when removed suggests that the blowers should be running, the contacts may be shot.

Right,i have checked the relays and although they look ok i will replace them then they are ticked of the list.
Today i have had the facia off both sides and looked at the blower motors,and both motors have power to them.
So now what??
Could this be the resistor behind the centre not working?
I`m sorry for all the questions but i live in the middle of nowhere and at least a 3 hour trip to the nearest competent mechanic,so its a kind of diy or live without it and whilst its cool i can live without it but when it gets hot we need the a/c working.

You need to look at the wiring diagram in RAVE and then follow the wiring through logically
