Have in past had problems with flat battery on P38, previously recharged and car started ok this time simple stuff hasn't worked, immobiliser will not switch off and only door that unlocks is drivers door.
I have a RovaCom system with BECM & Engine modules so have been able to fix basic problems but this time after a short on the drivers door lock actuator I replace this but still can't enter the EKA code manually using key or using the RC box.
I gave up on this one and took car into local independant RR specialist his diagnostics are showing almost every setting on BECM as wrong, eg petrol & not diesel, manual not auto. My RC confirms this.
When I try to disarm the BECM using RC & the EKA it's not working. Does anyone know if BECM in this state where all data appears to be wrong /corrupt is a fried BECM. If it is any one know where I can get this fixed or replaced?

Hi, and welcome

Irishrover is the man, I am sure he can solve the problem,

alos put where you live, you may be in a position to help somebody else one day.

Well after a month off the road the RR is finally back together and starting. The BECM had scrambled data and wasn't holding the correct info when input,
so couldn't reset any of the fields.
Thanks to Irishrover for fixing this problem for me.

Wow, that's impressive! Irish, as I've commented before, you're the man, not just because you have a lot of knowledge but because you are so willing to share it. Hear hear and hat's off to you sir. :) Dying of curiosity though; what was the fix?

It was a replacement Becm, programmed to DD's coding. His Becm would not take any code changes, the CPU was just unable to save any programmed data.
I am saint, just human, but I like to think that I can find my way around the electronic complexities of the P38.
Haven't had one beat me yet, even though it may take time.
There's a lot more to it than just hitting "Clear faults" or reset on the PC !!
I have owned a P38 for almost 10 years now and have cried the tears that some of you guys have, learned the hard way, I don't get involved with any other motor, have been pressed to take on board the L322's and later Disco's and to be 100% honest, I don't want to. Maybe I'm being blinkered in my outlook but I would rather stick to what I know best than something I am only 90% sure of. I see more "New" Range Rover problems cropping up..that's progress. But to be perfectly honest, at my time in life, I am quite happy doing what I do on the model that I know best.
Even though I have first hand experience of the Classic, 3.5/3.9 I have to brush the mental cobwebs away and go back 10 years ago to think of what I endured and experienced !!
You may realise why I am a miserable Old Git as my signature shows and driven to drink!!

Just speaking from experience Paul. At the end of the day you have had more experience with your dealings with BBS, bought more stuff than I ever did..and a good job you did of it.
That said, all BBS want is for their customers, large or small to be satisfied with their purchase, want it to do what it says on the tin (Or box), at the end of the day their reputation depends on it, and they have a very strong foothold in the market. If their stuff was dodgy they would have gone down down the pan long ago...does that tell you something ??
