hi folks

my 2.5 DSE auto changes up the gears but when it drops into top gear it stays in its top gear for so long the will drop back down into 3rd again. i have changed the oil and filter in the gearbox which has made a bit of differance it stays in top gear that bit longer but it will not stay in top gear for long what could be the cause of my problem if anyone could help me i would be deeply greatful as it is very annoying driving around in 3rd:)

well at 60mph the engine is reving at nearly 3000rpm and when it drops into what i think is top gear the engine revs at about 2500rpm so i am not sure whether it is another gear or not

Vehicle should be doing 56 mph at 2000 rpm in torque lock.

It's the torque convertor lock operating. It cuts in at about 53mph on mine on a light a light throttle, later on a wide throttle opening or uphill for example, it will also drop out on kick down or when a downshift is called for.:)

so it should cut in at about 53mph. mine only cuts in when it feels like it and thn cuts out when it feels like it and even on the flat and with a light throttle opening it still cuts out so dose that mean the torque converter needs replacing iam sorry if i sound dumb but i honestly don't understand how the torque converter works :)

Could be all sorts of things from bad connections, a duff sensor to a faulty transmission ECU. Might be a good idea to get the fault codes read.

on Automatic Gearbox Range Rover I can explain that when the climb mountain roads with rubble and do not use gears to climb the mountain but with 1 or 2 or d
then in the middle of the road (the gearbox is overhead) what the problem is and how to act in this case as to why this problem occurs only during the summer please give me an answer
