Transfer box does have a drain plug and it does not share oil with the gearbox. It is separate. You will only get around 5 litres from the box rest is in torque converter. Get warm, drain, change filter refill. Run for a couple of weeks then change oil again less filter. Whomsoever you spoke to is a dickhead.
