Hi All

just now changing the o rings on the heater matrix system what a pain in arse and of course i forgot that as soon as you undo the screw you get a green shower in the car ha ha glad it was cold.

Anyway will finish off tomorrow re assembling the inside of the car and now need to top up with water and antifreeze so can anyone please tell me how much and what ratio to use antifreeze to water ?

thanks

Tony

wet and dirty but job half done.:(

Hi All

O rings replaced on the heater matrix and antifreeze topped up seems to be running ok will check fluid levels tomorrow and give the beastie another run then prior to my trip to France next weekend me thinks will take out breakdown recovery for my trip sad to say my confidence is not there on a long run, lets hope she proves me wrong.

thanks for all your input on the O rings and antifreeze.

Tony

Hey Tony ... I HAVE TO ASK ...... Antifreeze in JERSEY!!!! the last time it snowed there was 65 Million years ago & Dinosours roamed around St Hellier!!!!!

By the way ..... Our friends in the European Union have cancelled the name "Antifreeze" it is now "ALL WEATHER RADIATOR FLUID" ...... Seemingly some total KNOB in Belgium put "Antifreeze" in & his car froze up so he sued Shell (I think) saying they were " Misrepresenting their product" .....

& OF COURSE those KNOBS in the EU aggreed so from 1st March 2010 NO MORE ANTIFREEZE ..... Just go into ANY Shell garage & look on the shelves .... Bottles & Bottles of "Shell All weather Radiator Fluid" ......

WHAT A LOAD OF ARSE!!!!!

Yes we had snow here in Jersey granted not much but unlike the UK Jersey has no road clearing kit and six minutes worth of salt so the RR was a real hero got my wife to work then i went home ah well sometimes snow is good for a day or two off.

but yes it did get to - figures for about a week so the old antifreeze is still needed in the Channel Islands.

again thanks for all your help just hope the old girl enjoys a good run in France next weekend.

Tony:)

I have considered long & hard about the "Will it make it/is it gonna break down ect"

I have reached the following conclusion ..... "If yer THINK its gonna break down THEN IT WILL!!! FACT!!!....Yer drivin along in a "Pensive" mood listening fer every little odd Squeek, rattle or Knock you ARE NOT drivin "Smoothly"

I prooved this fact when I was about 8 (I think) My dad had a Reliant & we were drivin over my my grans house in Derbyshire just outside Marple it broke down (AA man on a "Combination") for the younger readers A motorbike & sidecar!!.. came out & fixed it ... & Off we went.......

2 Months later we're heading back to Grans house & I say " HEY DAD remember last time we got here we broke down" ......

BOLLOX!!! within 2 seconds of me saying that ..... The Fookin thing went BANG!!!!....... RESULT??...... It was ALL MY FAULT!!!!!!!

I'm 55 now & I STILL remember getting my Arse kicked up & down the road outside Strines Station!!!! Many many years later my Dad & me ****ed ourselves laughin about it He used to say it was "KARMA" TRUST IT to get you there & IT WILL Question its motives & it'll bite yer arse fer sure!!!!

Hum don't know about Karma but it's a P38 so fingers and legs crossed took it for a 15 mile drive today up down hills etc and hey presto when I checked it the antifreeze was just where i left it so job done and off to France we go will keep you posted but will take the laptop and cables for the EAS just in case and a spare everything that can fit in the boot.

I hope this a holiday and not a P38 roadside repair coarse or im in deep doda.

again thanks to all

Just look on the bright side Tony .... Your drivin along just passin the local Nudist Beach & Pooof!!!..... You gotta sit there fer 7 hours & wait fer Euro-Assist ...... WITH NOWT TO LOOK AT ....... Yeah Right!!!!

with that thought in mind I will head south not the Loire Valley and may just go without the wife was it left or right outside Paris to that nudist beach.

I am only having some fun hopefully i have sorted all the problems on the RR as she has run very well this year, just not used to having so much to do on any car and was thinking that the P38 was going to be as reliable as my previous Vogue TD6 that I could leave for a month jump in and all was well, but just too much money tied up in what became a second car.
